Quilting and Cleaning

Well it's the weekend already, and July is slipping by fast. Been very thankful for the rain this past week, but the weeds just seem to grow even faster. Got all the weeds gone, and the grass (in front) and weeds mowed.
House work is never ending. Been working on a baby quilt for a friend of my daughter-in-law. It's a boy so it's a blue quilt, doing it in "spilt rail". Top was completed last night. But before I go any further, want to finish up the house. Funny how having a larger house isn't the answer.

Ode to Wife ,the Quilter

Ode to My Wife the Quilter
She learned to quilt on Monday.
Her stitches all were very fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner.so we went out to dine.
She quilted miniatures on Tuesday.she says they are a must.
They really were quite lovely.
But she forgot to dust.
On Wednesdays it was a sampler.
She says stipling's fun. What highlights! What Shadows!
But the laundry wasn't done.
Her patches were on Thursday -Green, yellow, blue and red.
I guess she was really engrossed; She never made the bed.
It was wall hangings on Friday,In colors she adores.
I t never bothered her at all,The crumbs on the floors.
I found a maid on Saturday.
My week is now complete.
My wife can quilt the hours away; The house will still be neat.
Well, it's already Sunday
.I think I'm about to wilt.
I cursed, I raved, I ranted
,The MAID has learned to QUILT!

DALE ----- NASCAR

Went and saw "DALE" last night. While he was alive I never was a big fan of racing. I have recently (past two years) become a NASCAR fan. Just now beginning to enjoy racing. It's a great sport if you like napping, you can wake up and never missed much. Just so you are awake on the final lap. That's the ONLY one that REALLY matters. The movie was good, showed Dale at home on his farm and at alot of different tracks. I learnt alot. I also have the book "NASCAR for Dummies. Last year I liked the M&M car (went with the paint job). This year I have my "own" driver, #42 Juan Pablo Montoya. He may be new to NASCAR but not to racing. And believe it or not I have "won" my first bet (dinner at the Melting Pot) thanks to his "older" racing style as a Formula One driver on a road course.

Once you start watching racing it's hard not to want to see MORE of it. Men and women always wanting to be the first across the finish line. Not much a "speed" person, but always a "good" show. Believe it or not in 38years driving I have NEVER gotten a speeding ticket, much less pulled over. Racing, doesn't matter much as what kind it is, it's ALL GOOD now. Would someday like to take in a "live" NASCAR event. But for now will have to settle for the local dirt track in Elma. Last year went to my first live sprint car race at Peris, California. Wish we lived closer. As Gwynn says, "Asphalts for paving, dirt is for racing." Guess he should know as he drives a dump truck.

In the Beginning

Well we all must start somewhere, so here goes. Why Uniquely Pieced Together? Unique: being the only one, or being without a like or equal, or unusual. That's ME ! I enjoy creating quilts. Along with alot more things. And putting it all together in life.
